”Trying to write more than can be handled” means that the incoming data from the cameras is higher than the system is able to process and write to the recording disk(s). Usually this means there is something wrong with the disk, or the system is overloaded.
Possible causes for the error:
- Slow disk
- Disk with errors/problems
- Image buffer filling up when video stream does not have proper keyframes
- CPU usage too high, system not keeping up with the amount of streams incoming
How to fix it?
The fix for this issue depends on the cause of it. If it is a slow disk, separating the database from the recordings might help. If it's a faulty disk, replace the disk. If it's a malformed camera stream, a different camera could be tried. Upgrading to the newest version (while backing up the old one in case a rollback to the older version is needed) is always worth a try as the general performance of Obseron is optimized and improved all the time.
If the system has been running fine before and no new cameras have been added, it is most likely a disk that needs to be replaced. To make sure, you can run some basic diagnostics on the disk and see if there are any errors. Reading the disk SMART data or running the SMART tests usually reveals any errors.
