Multiple Obseron servers in the same network can be connected together and remote connection can be made to one of the servers that will then forward servers connected to it. This server forwarding the connections can also be used as an login server and for centralized user management.
Obseron server can forward all connected servers to an client, as long as the client has a direct network connection to the forwarded servers.
Easiest way to explain these features and enabling them is through the following examples.
Example 1
The system consists of one server and one or more clients. Client has an remote connection to the server, empty credentials and Connect automatically toggled on.
With only one server, users will be managed on this server. To enable the login server feature for the client, and an admin account must be created on each client (to trigger the login dialog on start up) and Remote connection > Advanced settings > Use as login server or Users > Log in using a network server: Select a server must be enabled.
A summary of the server and client settings and users:
- Server
- Settings
- License, recording spaces and cameras added and configured
- Remote connection server enabled
- Users
- admin (Administrator user for managing the server)
- user1 (Regular user, for example with permissions for live + recordings + remote connection, permission to view camera 1)
- user2 (Regular user, for example with permissions for live + remote connection, permission to view cameras 2 - 5)
- Settings
- Client
- Settings
- Remote connection to the server added, empty user credentials and Connect automatically enabled
- Users
- admin (Administrator user with the main purpose of triggering the login dialog on start up)
- Settings
After this setup, client can be logged into with the user credentials created on the server. All further user management will be done from the server.
Example 2
The system consists of the main server, multiple servers connected to it, along with one or more clients.
Administrator users will be created for all the servers and remote connection servers will be enabled.
Main server remote connection server option Allow connection forwarding will be enabled, and remote connections to all other servers will be added using the administrator credentials and Connect automatically enabled. All users and permission groups will be created on this main server. Cameras from other servers will show under these permission groups.
A remote connection to the main server will be added to each client, leaving the user credentials empty, enabling Connect automatically and toggling on Request forwarded connections and Use as a login server from the Advanced settings tab.
An administrator user will be created for the client, to trigger the login dialog on startup.
A summary of the server and client settings and users:
- Server
- Settings
- License, recording spaces and cameras added and configured
- Remote connection server enabled, Allow connection forwarding enabled
- Remote connection created to all other servers
- Users
- admin (Administrator user for managing the server)
- user1 (Regular user, for example with permissions for live + recordings + remote connection, permission to view camera 1 from server 1)
- user2 (Regular user, for example with permissions for live + remote connection, permission to view cameras 1 - 32 from servers 1, 2 and 3)
- Settings
- Other servers
- Settings
- License, recording spaces and cameras added and configured
- Remote connection server enabled
- Users
- admin (Administrator user for managing the server and for remote connections between the servers)
- Settings
- Client
- Settings
- Remote connection to the main server added, empty user credentials, Connect automatically enabled, Request forwarded connections and Use as a login server from the Advanced settings tab enabled.
- Users

- Settings
After this setup, client can be logged into with the user credentials created on the server. Users will see all permitted cameras from all servers. All further user management will be done from the server.
