Obseron can be configured to receive and store metadata from supported cameras through ONVIF Profile M. Metadata usually consists of object recognition data based on what the camera was taught to recognize. Enabling metadata in Obseron is simple – it only requires adding an ONVIF metadata component.
Enabling Metadata Reception
- Open the settings and navigate to Cameras > [your metadata camera]
- Once you have established the normal connection, open Components tab
- Add a new component "ONVIF metadata" and wait for the Status to say OK
- Additionally, to select which objects from the received ones are stored, select the objects from "Objects to detect" selector, or to select how long an object needs to be detected before it is stored in to the database, adjust the Minimum object lifetime value
Once the component is added and connection status is OK, Obseron will automatically start receiving and storing metadata from this camera. This can be confirmed by looking at the Events received field that will output all the recognized objects. In this screen capture the camera recognized an "Human" object wearing "Black" and "Blue" colors.
If no metadata appears on the Events received list or in the search, make sure the camera supports object recognition metadata and that it's enabled from the camera. This varies between camera manufacturers, please refer to your camera manufacturers instructions.
Using the metadata
To use this captured and stored metadata, Obseron has an search tool to filter through the recognized objects.
Open this tool from the Magnifying glass icon on the timeline and click on the search bar to populate the dropdown list with all of the recognized objects, start clicking objects to filter through them.
Multiple filters can be added to one query and the preview images from search results will be updated after each selected filter.
